Indicted for false pretense, a Texas requisition followed and Gov Buchanan warned of return if found guilty. Authorities sought a settlement by returning the land papers and settling costs. Carsant sought habeas corpus arguing the requisition aimed to collect a debt, prompting cross‑state demand and possible transfer back to Tennessee.
