Schoolhouse Hope and Civic Effort in Blaine Era

In a rambling reminiscence a speaker recalls local efforts to build a new schoolhouse and academy seeking support from Governor Brown and prominent merchants Hunni out and Bellingreth. He notes fundraising, late letters, and the evolution debate while praising community resolve and philanthropy amid schooling changes. The piece weaves satire on religion and science with memories of childhood and public meetings.
