Remembering Cornelia Arnell A Tennessee Widow of Union Era
A solemn obituary recalls Cornelia G. Orton Arnell born January 15 183 she led a life between Columbia and Johnson City. Educated in Columbia taught at the Columbia Atheneum married Samuel Mayes Arnell November 18 18. They lived near Columbia and endured the Civil War escape into Washington DC before settling in Johnson City. Mother of six children two died in infancy.
