Two Railroads in Hawkins County Bet on Holston River Line

Hawkins county may gain a railroad branch as an engineering survey studies the Holston River route from Bulls Gap to Moccasin Gap Virginia. Backed by L and N and Seaboard Air Line, the project could reuse the old Three C's alignment to Moccasin Gap, with line upgrades signaling strong commitment and possible feeder lines from Kingsport toward Washington county. A related note reports a South and Western line building a long distance telephone link to Spruce Pine New York for telegraphic use during construction and potential joint services.
