Ill-fated Greene county gathering and local notices

Greene county residents Carters Mosse Lamb and Whitehurst spoke on Farmers Alliance goals but failed to recruit enough members for organization. Local clergy Rev James Lamb preached a strong sermon. many visitors were noted including Miss St John of Virginia and others. Various social notices, travel reports, and short quotations fill out a broad rural-merchant era column with dates, places, and names.
