Salaries Reform to Regulate County Superintendents
At the State Public School Officers' Association meeting in Nashville a seven member committee was appointed to draft a bill for the next annual session and legislature to regulate county superintendent salaries. The report also urged creation of a normal school for white teachers in each grand division and one for negro teachers near the center, noting that about 40 percent of the school fund is wasted by inefficient teachers. Resolutions endorsed State Superintendent Myndera's work and sought $1,000 from the legislature for rural libraries. W. S. Snapp, a pioneer liveryman, leased the Carratables on West Market Street and will open February 1 with boarding and hitching facilities, promising prompt care for outfits and teams. He is praised as a top liveryman with knowledge of stock care. Monthly Pains cured by Dr. Miles Pain Pills.
