Patterson and Pattersonites in Tennessee Politics Scribble
A sprawling State of Tennessee clip discusses Gov Patterson, his inauguration on January 15, and speculation about his future ambitions including possible Senate elevation. It mentions Bart Tipton as a proposed livestock inspector, Chicago union bonuses for babies and twins, and praise for the Holston Valley Zephyr's launch from Kingsport. The Nashville and Chattanooga press comment on Patterson's ambitions, while a Nashville injunction dissolves over Herbert Domain land sale, with sale expected within ten days if title is clear.

Holston River road to build to Morristown in Tennessee
A Bristol Herald report states the Holston River railway will not end at Persia Tennessee but likely reach Morristown with possible Limestone junction. Engineers study lines beyond Persia and eschew the Rogersville Bulls Gap spur due to weak road bed. Construction from Moccasin Gap Virginia will run via Hawkins County to Morristown Hamblen County, aiming to finish in two years to feed the Southern system with Virginia coal and mineral traffic. Alderman EB Slater of Jonesboro was arrested in Cincinnati on false pretenses to obtain a diamond ring but was released after the matter was adjusted. Slater is a former mayoral candidate and local alderman, related to lumber dealer A J Troslar.
