Wrenn Appointed Passenger Traffic Manager for Plant System

Mistreated 118 Family and Whitecaps Gave Him 100 Licks

Bourgat Rerukat, Va., Dec. 22. John Br. Hale was dragged from his home by about twenty five whitecaps and whipped with a rawhide back whip for a hundred lashes. He had beaten his wife and children and last night poured hot water on them. Hale had come from Johnson City and was ordered to leave the county within twenty four hours.

Scaled 10 Death At Noon Sunday on Southern Railway

Engineer John W. Ramsey of the Southern Railway died Sunday after a trial trip accident near Sweetwater. Ramsey, in charge of engine 191 pulling a Chattanooga to Knoxville passenger run, was fatally burned by a ruptured arch pipe and engulfing flames. Coroner's inquest returned a verdict of death from the injuries. Ramsey, a veteran passenger engineer, belongs to the Grand Army of the Republic and several railway unions. Killibrew and Reames were aboard. Killibrew was slightly hurt. Knoxville Sentinel reported this incident.
