A compact, blonde moustached man slid down Lookout Mountain on a contraption with a wheel and horseshoe, covering 4500 feet in three and a half minutes. In Birmingham Ava on February 18 Chas Davis and Jim Dougherty well known local pugilists fought a bloody four round contest in a private room before about 100 spectators. Davis won by a terrific blow to Dougherty's chin sending him senseless. Officers hunted for the fighters at Bessover Pratt mines and the fair grounds but were outwitted. The bout was for 250 dollars and prosecution is expected.
