Congressman N A Parrenson from Vineland Tennessee argues against discarding South Carolina’s electoral vote in the upcoming joint session. An old advertisement claims deafness results from inflamed mucous surfaces in the ear and cannot be cured by local applications. It promotes a patent remedy by Wilkational ingredients and promises a $100 reward if a case cannot be cured, urging readers to request free circulars from WP. J. Cheney & Co of Toledo Ohio.
The column mixes satirical items about editors and politics with shareable oddities. Col. Waring dies suddenly, a tramp printer nearly harms himself, and the foreman’s “over-worked” death hints at a light workload while jokes fill the page. Groundhog weather forecasts and rural banter appear amid regional humor and local quarrels.

A local druggist notes women buy multiple packages to recolor gowns cloaks and suits, with black shades proving most popular. The dyes promise color that does not fade crack or wash out and claim simple use even for children.
The pamphlet from the German Kali Works at 0 Nassau Street New York describes a second edition with fertilizer results from experiment stations.
