Coal Land Fight Over Clinchfield Holdings in South Plans

A Wall Street battle unfolds over control of the Clinchfield corporation, its 112,000 acres of Crane's Nest Coal lands, and associated railroad assets across Virginia Tennessee and North Carolina. The Southern Railway and Seaboard Air Line syndicates vie for majority stock, with Carter selling assets and later Seaboard directors moving to gain control. The case, rooted in the Union Trust receivership, could be settled in court as investors push for ownership and asset transfers.
