Detachment of Missouri Cavalry Capture Rebel Mill and Camp
A Missouri Cavalry detachment under Lieut Groves on a secret 83 mile march from Pine Bluffs Ark captures a Rebel mill near Pine Bluffs. They seize guard and horses, burn camp structures, and rout about 70 rebels while receiving help from a trusted local guide. The operation yields 100 guards, 20 scouts, and a reported 4,000 Confederate troops two miles south of the mill.
