About 11 tonight inmates at the Jasper county jail forced all cell and hall locks and escaped. The white prisoners named include Ken nedy boys Henry Barney Fox Morris Westmoreland James Wilcox Pink Hutchens and two others. Escape found at midnight as guards secured the empty cells. Authorities hunt the fugitives and review jail security.
Judge Brown sentences James Hickey to life for the 1892 Sullivan county murder of H. H. Miller after three trials. Capt. William Rooney aged 27 of 53 Eust Houston Street, an election inspector in the Fifty first district, collapsed and died at the penitentiary upon seeing his father for the first time since confinement. He had been sentenced by Judge Barreth to one year ten months and a 250 fine.
