Fight Against General Election Laws in Tennessee

Nashville April 3 Opponents to amendments to the general election laws grow more active as independents and Republicans unite with harmony movement forces for the 1912 presidential campaign. Gov Hooper and Chancellor Bullock backed efforts against the measure, sending Senator Frazier to Nashville and Chattanooga to influence votes. Representative Swan defends the bill as fair. Harmony advocates claim independence threatens the Democratic party, while others say the measure is necesssary. Commissioners may be retained with Tigrett reappointed, Orms and Lytle named, and two Republicans likely to join the slate. Everything hinges on the election law dispute and party realignments.
