First steps to form a national farm loan association under the Federal Farm Loan Act are outlined. A group of ten landowners with at least twenty thousand dollars in aggregate borrows can apply to the Federal land bank district for a charter. Loans range from 100 to 10000 dollars, with stock subscriptions of five percent of individual loan amounts.
The charter process requires each borrower to subscribe five percent of their loan value in stock. After signatures are notarized and forwarded to the Federal land bank, a bank agent examines the application. If approved, a corporate body forms with a secretary treasurer as executive officer, and eligibility for loans ranges from 100 to 10,000 dollars.
