Barret Hereford Ranch of Comanche claimed its third straight grand champion bull title with W B Royal Mixer 229 at the Iowa State Fair Des Moines. W B Proud Mixer led Illinois and Missouri wins and competes at Lincoln Nebraska. The ranch also earned reserve champion at Sedalia with WB Larry Mixer Domino 66. Walter Jack Barret and Roger Murphree showcase 11 top Herefords as they return home from Missouri and Iowa fairs.

Re-elected County A. S. C. Committeemen Named

The 1955 County Convention re elected County Committeemen for 1956 starting September 1. Herman Barnett Gustine is Chairman and Gustine Thomas G. Grisham is Vice President from De Leon. Regular members include William F. Bryant Sidney First alternate Robert Reed Sidney Second Alternate Sanford A. Moore Sidney. They vow to administer the Farm Program fairly and invite producers to meet Fridays to discuss issues.

Hayes 81 Dies at Gustine in Texas Farming Community

Emmet Hayes an 81 year old retired farmer from Gustine Texas died August 26 1955 at his farm home Funeral services were held by Rev Jimmie Dobbs at Comanche Siloam Cemetery Macksville Funeral Home Burial followed Music was provided by a quartet including Roland Miller Eva Compton and J D Center with organist Pallbearers named Derre Hayes King Hayes Russell Hayes Bert Hayes Douglas Dobbs and Herrell Gaddy Hayes was born May 13 1874 in Nonalville Bell County He was the son of J L and Mary Hayes He came to Comanche County at age nine and spent most of his life in Gustine area He married Johia Waldrop October 24 1897 and they had six children Edward Dalton Wayne Mrs Robert Allen Gustine Mrs Richard Burt Carlton and Mrs Boyd Dooley Carlton He had seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren Survived by three brothers and three sisters Jessie Hayes Mineral Wells M J Hayes Dublin Newt Hayes Comanche Mrs Jim Neel Hollywood California Mrs Emma Manning Gustine Mrs Diane Cox Gustine and other relatives and friends

Carolyn Tidmore Killed in Wreck at Sidney

Carolyn Sue Tidmore 18 daughter of Mr and Mrs J Tidmore of Turkey formerly of the Gap Community Comangan County was killed in a head on collision between a car and a truck Monday morning August 29 Norbitt Mullins 25 also of Turkey died in the same crash. Joint funeral services were held at Turkey Tuesday and burial followed at Stag Creek Cemetery in Sidney with ministers from Cro Manche and Brownwood in charge.

Sidney Eagles Open Season With Dedication Night

The Sidney Eagles host Fairy Friday night to open 1955 six man football at the Eagle Memorial Stadium. Kickoff at 8 pm with halftime dedication ceremonies.
