Lieutenant Governor Barry Miller urged a Comanche audience to revive old time religion and Southern hospitality through lodge activity and social gatherings. He recalled 40 years ago lawyers attending funerals and urged lodges to support sick members, while praising the S O O F for aiding widows and orphans and promoting global fellowship.
May defeated Sidney 2 to 1 in the final in a pitchers duel between Stone and Hallmark. Earlier May beat Stephenville 9 to 4 in the semifinal as Horace White struck out 15. Sidney beat Comanche 1 to 0 to reach the finals.
Clarence Bryant of Miles was called Monday evening as minister of the Comanese Church of Christ after a sermon by Bryant. He accepted and will preach his first sermon at eleven o clock Sunday. W H Glasgow of Lamkin spent Sunday with his daughter, Mrs. Miller.
Comanche Lions Club hosts the first district group meeting at Ridgeway Monday evening with delegates from De Leon Dublin Stephenville Hamilton and Hico. District officials R F Hooker and W H Price preside and officers for District 40 will be elected. Intercity matters will be discussed as no definite program is set.
J B Nance 78 of Hasse was taken to a Brownwood sanitarium after a self inflicted knife wound to the left rib area. Relatives say he appeared upset by health issues and did not appear intoxicated earlier in the day.
The Comanche Indians open their football season with a non conference game at Breckenridge High School on Saturday September 21. Coach Pat Cagle reports 28 players out and recruits arriving daily, with numbers approaching forty by game time.
Momte A. Davis was chosen corresponding secretary and all officers were reelected at the fifty fourth Annual Session of the Comanche Baptist Association held at the First Baptist Church in PeLeon on August 28 and 29. The meetings opened with a morning union service, letters from churches read, and messengers enrolled as the organization was reestablished with new officers. Continued on last page.
Rev Gordon Barrett opened with remarks praising Comanche ex students Webb Jenkins Natalie Jessup Nita and Rita Denaho as music provided by four former Comanche High School students. Enrollment figures show declines in high school and overall shifts in grammar and ward schools.
Four o clock Thursday ginned cotton in Comanche reached 184 bales, with 264 bales weighed at the local yard, compared to 44 bales on the same date last year.
More than 500 delinquent tax suits were filed with the District Court. Tax Attorney Tom F. Herres explains rules on real versus personal property and where cases must be filed. The next district court term starts October 14, with orders of sale issued 20 days after judgment if taxes remain unpaid, and public auction at the courthouse door follows. Redeemals within two years are allowed if back taxes and costs are paid. About $4,500 collected in August. roughly $10,000 since July 1 as the campaign for delinquent taxes continues, including Insolvent roll items.
Ralph Stone of Electra has leased the Post Office Service Station and will take charge Wednesday. He plans a modern tourist park in the near future according to his statement.

The Sidney Sipe Springs road across Pecan Hollow is praised as the best work in years. Aron Ward led the effort with Rufe Fiech er and neighbors deserving credit for a well built, wide graded road. The project ends a decade of local road worries and shows strong community effort.
