Pecans Forecast Poor Nationwide Crop Outlook
A State Department of Agriculture survey predicts a nationwide pecan crop near the worst on record for 1922 with very few nuts available this season. Excessive fruit thinning and insect damage are blamed, with major river valleys including Trinity, Bravos, Colorado, Lavaca, Guadalupe, and Nueces showing near total losses and the Pecan Valley reporting a tote failure. The Capps pecan orchard, famed for its yield, is described as not better.
