Comanche County farmer T R Lacy near Sidney builds a premier herd of registered Duroc hogs. From January 1 to September 1 he sold pigs worth 745 dollars, spent about 200 on feed, and still has 14 pigs valued at 300. His herd includes five sows and one imported boar, with notable costs for two imported sows and the boar. Last Friday the pastors of Comanche churches organized the Pastor's Association of Comanche. Meetings will be held twice monthly to promote religious interests through united effort, reflecting progressiveness and the ability of Comanche's clergy.
Curtis Stevens has joined the aviation corps as a flyer and will train at the Austin aviation school for two months. He will be commissioned as a Second Lieutenant after graduation and becomes a flyer. A graduate of Como nche High School and Rice Institute, he has worked as a civil engineer for an oil company.
State Department of Agriculture moves to secure a market for dressed jack rabbits amid growing winter demand. Representative B F Cadenhead reports a buyer plans carload shipments this season and aims for foreign markets benefiting from higher overseas demand.
Comanche High School began the 1918 football campaign with a 4:15 pm game against De Leon High School in De Leon. De Leon fields mostly second year players while Comanche features new men except for Jess and Carleton Woodward. Next game for Comanche is at Brownwood on November 27.
