Judge Edison Calls County to Face Lawlessness

District Judge Edison told the grand jury that lawlessness in Comanche County is at its worst in nine years. He cited high theft and violations, urged indictments under new poultry theft and desertion laws, and warned that outside help could be summoned if citizens do not act. The grand jury list and bailiffs were announced.

Bryson Well Casing Set and Drilling Resumes

Work on setting the eight inch casing in the Bryson well was expected to be completed Thursday night. Drilling will be resumed today at 2360 feet.

District Judge Joe Eidson excuses jurors summoned for the week starting October 21 until the sixth week of court beginning November Sth. The order affects all jurors called for that period and delays service accordingly.

More Fish Added To Lake Eanes From State Hatchery

An additional consignment of fish arrived for Lake Eanes last week from the State Fish Hatchery at Cisco. The shipment included bass crappie and brim of various sizes. some hatchlings and larger specimens were placed in ten gallon cans. I. K. Anthony obtained fish for his private lake while others, including court and local officials, facilitated the transfer.

Bank Deposits Grow in Comanche Area

Deposits in the two Comanche banks total about $981,742.61 as of October 4, up from $908,698.84 a year earlier in October 1928. The Comanche National and First State banks show combined deposits around $45,000 higher than the June 29 1929 call of $935,983.18.

Indians Meet Wildcats In Conference Clash

The Comanche Indians travel to Rising Star to face the Rising Star Wild Cats in a third conference game. Comanche edged Rising Star 7 to 0 last season. Rising Star seeks a win after a 13 to 0 defeat by Stephenville Yellow Jackets, the only undefeated Class B team this season.

Car Flips Off Bridge Leaves Driver Hurt Near Comanche

W. T. Lester was pinned beneath his car for about half an hour after it left the Burnt Hollow bridge and rolled three times into a branch. Rescued by passerby Orvel Thomas and Don Smoot, Lester was taken to his Comanche home for medical care.

Gold storage plant to be built by Peerless Produce Co

Work began on Wednesday to remodel the Pinkard Building for a modern cold storage plant to be built by Peerless Produce Co. The 24 by 24 facility will handle a car of dressed poultry at a time and include hardening for ice cream and sweet milk. A pasteurizer is planned with spring arrival. Mr Cox, manager, says turkeys will be dressed at the local plant this season once vaults are completed.

Brunks Draws Large Audience With Comedy Play

A capacity crowd attended Chicken Legs by the I. D. Comedy Company in Comanche. The show, praised as one of the best theater plays, joins strong week of performances with a band Arkansas Travelers Orchestra and high class vaudeville acts drawing favorable comment.
