Comanche Garden Club met last Thursday October 7 at 2 00 pm at the Vocational School. Mrs Allen Beadel demonstrated five flower arrangements and offered tips on materials and harmony. New members Mrs L R Hastings Mrs Gertie Little Mrs Tom Ryan and Mrs R D Massingill joined. Mrs Elmo Montgomery led an evening program at 7 00 pm with members supplying their own materials.
Mrs Ben Scott longtime resident of the Downing community died Friday October 8 at a De Leon hospital after a long illness. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Downing Baptist Church with Rev J L Woolsey presiding. Interment was Zion Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were her nephews. Born August 17 1874 in Georgia she was 80 years 1 month 8 days old. She was predeceased by her husband Ben Scott earlier this year. Survived by four daughters Rosa Flanagan Oma Loudermilk Annie Sledge Mollie Wilson and four sons Henry John B Andy and Other Scott. Also surviving are grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, one sister Mrs John Wilson and two brothers Jim and Tom Kelly. She was a faithful Baptist member.
Mrs. Elmer Angermann expresses deep gratitude for the love deeds gifts and cards received during her stay at Blackwood Hospital. She thanks Dr. E. E. Blackwood and the nursing staff for excellent care and assures lasting appreciation and blessings.

Indian Creek Methodist Church announces the resignation of Rev Hodges due to poor health. Regular worship and preaching will continue at the church this Sunday. Local notes also report rain, hospital treatment for Mrs L C Patton, and visits from Gail York and family of Dallas.
