Major liquor raid uncovers two stills in Comanche county
In a major operation two trucks hauled two copper stills and manufacturing gear to the county jail after officers searched a residence a mile off White Point road six miles from Comanche. Seventy five gallons of whiskey, mash barrels, empties and equipment were seized. Ed Bynum his wife and two children, and A W Witt with Lloyd Van Zandt were arrested with bonds set at 1000 each. Sheriff Gilbreath Deputy Pate and special deputies Edwards and McNutt led the arrest. One visitor allegedly attempted to flee as officers entered.

Plane kills 5 in upland crash near Marfa Texas
S E Couch a 65 year old Ozona rancher and stockholder in several San Angelo firms died when the propeller of his Ryan monoplane struck him after he stepped from the aircraft in Marfa. Witnesses said death was instantaneous. Couch was vice president of Wool Growers Central Storage and Western Life Insurance. He had flown from Ozona with Lee Wilson and Richard Flowers as passengers. He was a widely known aviation enthusiast and stockman.

Hoff hurt in fall from roof at Comanche Milling office
J P Hoff sustained serious injuries Friday when he fell from the Comanche Milling Company office roof while painting and repairing. Doctors report no internal injuries, Hoff remains in great pain but not expected to have permanent damage. He said paint slippery footing caused the fall, the impact pulling down electrical and telephone wires.

Cotton Receipts Reach Over Two Thousand Bales

Prison convicts confess murder of Harwell at Ferguson prison
A. F. Breeding and J. D. Echols, both 19, inmates at the Ferguson prison farm, admitted killing Graham Harwell 28 during escape and burial at the farm behind the power house. They guided officers to the grave as charges of murder were filed. Harwell was serving two years for forgery. Breeding and Echols were serving terms for cattle theft and burglary respectively.
