Agri Census Timetable and Outreach Plans
The 1974 Census of Agriculture will be sent by mail to about 4.5 million U.S. farms and ranches. Kenneth G. White of the Comanche County ASCS says government and private industry support the effort. USDA agencies will assist farmers with the census as in 1969. The project serves as a base and yardstick for future programs.

Roy E. Dutton 74, semi retired from farming and automotive work, now spends hours at his sewing machines making dresses pant suits and quilts at his North Pearl home. He learned jig work at North American Aviation in 1943 helped build Mustangs and a trainer, and he recalls courting wife Tavia while working with family in Comanche Texas. He supports Tavia and Ruby Gore, his sister in law, while measuring time between carpentry plumbing and kitchen chores born May 13 1901 in Mercer Gap community.

Raid Brings Results on North Hall Street
A coordinated raid by Comanche peace officers on a mobile home on North Hall Street on Wednesday, Sept. 23 resulted in four arrests and the seizure of what officials say is marijuana and smoking equipment. Felony charges were filed Friday, Sept. 25, against two 18 year olds and two 17 year old boys and a girl. Bonds ranged from 1,500 to 2,500 dollars. Police Chief Charles Anders, City Police Officer Verlie Turner, deputies Burgess Elliott and Shilo Garman, and troopers Joe Wilke and Tommy Ryne led the operation with a search warrant issued by Judge Fields.

A national SRDS survey and Department of Agriculture reports show Comanche County farm receipts reached 42.067 million dollars in 1973. Crops produced about 46 percent of local sales while livestock and dairy made up roughly 54 percent. Factors include favorable weather, bumper crops, and a surge in exports boosting prices, helping debt reduction and new equipment purchases.
