J Martin McGuire died at her home east of Comanche on November 26 and was buried at Indian Creek. Born July 22 1846 in Smith County Texas, she married J Martin McGuire in 1861 and had 11 children, eight living. A devout Methodist, she lived a consecrated life and guided her family in faith and duty.

On Thursday evening Castle of Comanche Lodge 154 hosted the Knights of Pythias annual roll call. A good crowd of Knights visiting ladies and gentlemen gathered for informal conversation after the formal roll call. Refreshments of turkey sandwiches, chocolate and coffee were served.

He enlisted in the navy at the war’s start served in signal work and quickly rose to petty officer before accepting the higher training offer. School inaugurates lunch room for pupils
Last Tuesday the grammar school opened a lunch room in a converted cafeteria to serve beans with brown bread and fruit at about 10 cents a meal. The program is run by volunteers from the PTA and the domestic science class, with capacity for about 50 pupils.

W A Thompson of near Hasse died Monday and was buried Tuesday at Indian Creek with Rev Young and Rev Ferguson officiating. Born December 1, 1846 in Tennessee, he came to Texas in 1854 and lived in Comanche county for 15 years. Survived by two sons Willie and Ewell and five daughters Treva, Mrs Hall Trickham, Mrs Stoghill Sanger, Mrs Smith Rusk, Mrs Booker Bible. He was a long time Presbyterian. The notice extends sympathy to relatives.

James T. Ackers of Company H 144th Texas Infantry died Saturday at Camp Bowie hospital after measles. He was born January 10 1893 son of G W Ackers of Harmony. He professed faith in Christ July 1917 and lived a consecrated Christian life. He was buried at Mercer Gap Monday.
