A. C. Strickland, advisor, and Wilburn Daniel, president, of the Justine Future Farmer Chapter attended the Brazos Valley Pec an Growers Association meeting on Tuesday November 13 at John Tarleton College Stephen ville. They were joined by six Gustine FFA members.
The program outlines the Baptist Sunday School Convention convening on the Fourth Sunday at 2:09 P M with devotional led by J Y Robinson and business reports at 2:10. It includes a 25 Report of the Convention by Rev Wilson and presentations by Hasse Girls Quartette and Gordon Varrett on Sunday School impact followed by a discussion on how Sunday School helps churches and why.
A San Saba County election saw the beer sale defeated by 84 votes. The San Saba precinct favored beer by about 100 votes, while Cherokee and Richland Springs voted against it by large majorities. All amendments were defeated.
Gustine Tigers defeated Comyn High 19 to 0 on Friday November 2 at Comyn field. The Gustine squad held Comyn to one first down as Allen and Bolton led the scoring with two third quarter touchdowns and a midway second quarter score by Allen. Pal added a kicked goal.
County Agent J A Barton reports the government plans to buy as many nanny goats as Comanche County farmers want to sell. The government will take all goats listed with owners allowed to add to their herds. Price set at $1.40 per head for nanny goats one year old or older.
Apples and bananas with syrup specials listed for Saturday. Prices include 95c per dozen apples, 15c each or 2 dozen for 25c bananas, 10 lb spuds at 21c, cabbage 2 1/2c per lb, rib bon cane syrup 59c per gallon. Texas oranges and grapefruit at bargained prices. Trade here and save the difference.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ar dell Chancellor 63 widow of Frank Chancellor longtime Comanche Chief publisher were held at 4 p m Thursday in Fort Worth. She died at 1 a m Wednesday at 905 Pen Street after a five month illness. She is survived by a daughter Mrs. T Z Hamm of Fort Worth and a son Carl F Chancellor. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery Fort Worth. Born in Mississippi she moved to Texas with her parents as a child and lived in Comanche for many years before moving to Fort Worth 20 years ago.
Mrs Rollin Strayhorn of Fort Worth visits sister Mrs W L Randalls. Miss Nannie Perry of Baird and Mr and Mrs S Price Yantis of Robert Lee visit Mr and Mrs Robert Eaton. Visitors include Mrs J M Burrow of Santa Anna and Mrs B S Helmsley. Several locals travel to Riverside California and Alpine for visits and hunting. Rev Tom Moore preaches at 7 Stage Creek.

The Legislature passes a law forgiving penalties and interest on delinquent taxes paid between February 8 and March 15. Comanche City will cancel both penalties and interest from now to March 15 and allow installments. A $64 total becomes a $50 net if paid in full, with installment options. Y. W. Holmes, Attorney.
Mr and Mrs T J Williams hosted a Sunday gathering on November 11 to honor his siblings and their families. After assembling at the Williams home attendees traveled to Lake Eanes Park for a picnic. Guests included R T Williams and daughter of Ballinger M S Karmany of Ballinger W H Williams and children of Abilene W B Williams of Dallas Young Ayers and daughter of Stephenville Lee Williams of Stephenville Mrs G P Herndon of Dublin Harold Williams and family of Comanche.
Comanche church outlines programs and services for the year with pastor Dr W F Brown of Cleo humor as guest speaker. The calendar includes church school at 9 45 a m worship at 11 a m and evening programs at 7 p m with missionary society and prayer meetings weekly. Members urged to attend and bring baskets for church dinner.
C. H. Donaho, veteran dealer, announces this week he will handle East Texas gasoline. He recently installed two pumps at the Norrich Produce Company. William M. Ferguson of Cleburne and Thomas C. Ferguson of Burnet spent Sunday here with their mother Mrs. M. A. Ferruson and grandmother Mrs. W. W. Harvey.
Mr and Mrs Lee Loudermilk of Menard visited her mother Mrs Florrie Walling and his parents Mr and Mrs Walter Loudermilk of Downing last weekend.
