The Comanche Garden Club held its Spring Flower Show at the Garden Center on April 28 with the theme Around the World with Flowers. Awards included the Award of Merit to Mrs. John Barton for a yellow ranunculus and the Arboreal Award to Mrs. Gaston Bovkin for mock orange.
Troop 14 attended Skills Day at Camp Wood Lake in Brownwood on May 5. They placed 3rd in the square knot relay and 5th in the pancake flipping relay. Thirteen girls participated and toured the camp. Leaders Judy Morris Peggy Davis and Delphene Pratt with assistant Doris Kunkel. parents Mr and Mrs Sammy Boatman attended. A May 3 cook-out at Lake Banes tested the Brownie Scout fire skills. Special thanks extended to Stelvin Johnston and George Pratt for relay and grill wood donations. V F W Convention notes follow.
Entrants chose their class interpretations. Africa: Blue Ribbon to Miss Jodi McCullough and Home Sweet Home: Blue Ribbon to Miss Jill McCullough. Artistic Division won by Mrs. Roy D. Mims Jr. Over 60 visitors toured the Garden Center during afternoon viewing hours.
