Rising Star Youth Drowns During Creek Park Swim
A Rising Star youth, Michael Ferguson, 17, drowned Monday night at Copperas Creek Park Lake Proctor while swimming about 50 yards to a partially submerged picnic table. Companions alerted authorities. his body was recovered after a search by local and area units. Funeral services are scheduled at First Baptist Church Rising Star. Ferguson, born May 31 1958 in Little Rock, had moved to Rising Star in 1973 from Deming New Mexico and was a Cisco Junior College student active in local volunteer groups.

Tragic Child Run Down Near Comanche
A 3 year old boy, Bobby Joe Walker Jr., died after being struck by a car driven by Jose Luis Rodriguez on a county road near Comanche. He lived with relatives near the accident site and funeral services were held at San Saba Funeral Home Chapel. He was born April 9 1974 in Hereford. Survivors include his parents and grandparents.

Comanche Police Chief Charles Anders notes 85 traffic tickets, 42 warnings, 13 arrests, 11 jailed, 20 motor vehicle accidents, 85 other complaints, and police cars logging 6,070 miles in April.

Comanche County Tops Fifth in Texas Milk Output
Comanche County, home to 39 milk producers, ranks fifth in Texas for milk production with March output of 8,400,030 pounds. Texas total March production reached 295 million pounds, up 1 percent from a year earlier and 16 percent from February 1977. Production per cow averaged 930 pounds, up 20 pounds from a year ago and 130 pounds from the prior month. National March 1977 milk production was 10,562 million pounds, up 2.5 percent from a year earlier and 5.9 percent from March 1975. average per cow was 960 pounds, up 29 pounds from a year earlier and 68 pounds from March 1975.
