Brownwood cattle market notes show steady demand for stockers and a good buyer turnout. Receipts projected at 1500 head with prices listed for stocker calves yearlings and feeders. slaughter and fat cattle ranges provided for utilities and cull categories.
A partial roll of Comanche County servicemen stationed abroad includes Pfc John McCarty in Viet Nam and other personnel assigned to Guam Germany Spain Korea France and various locations. The community invites information on additional local service members to add to the record.
Mrs Neva Gunn Petross 57 of Sedalia Missouri was killed April 30 in a Sedalia automobile collision. Services were May 3 at Higginbotham Funeral Home with Ollie Cantwell officiating. Interment at Downing Cemetery. She was born August 26 1909 in Comanche County and married Lawrence E Petross September 19 1925. Survivors include her husband three sisters and three brothers.
Robert M. Poteet a senior student at the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary will preach at First Presbyterian Church Comanche on Sunday May 7. He is active in Trinity University groups and served as student pastor in Anson and as student assistant at Covenant Church Austin.
Mrs Homer Miller thanks Dr Gribble Dr Dan and Dr Roy Mims and the nurses at Mims Memorial for kindness during hospital stay. She also thanks those who sent gifts flowers cards and visits and says Homer joins her in the thanks.
Hunter Woodruff 55 of Coleman died Tuesday May 2 in Coleman Hospital. Services were held May 3 at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Father Leo Bujnowski officiating. Burial followed in Coleman Cemetery. He was born May 22 1911 in Santa Anna and married Lorene McClure December 26 1943 in Brady. He served as Coleman County treasurer for 12 years in the late 1930s and later was an independent oil operator for 25 years. He was a Catholic. Survivors include his wife, stepson Jack McClare of Abilene, mother Mrs C W Woodruff of Comanche, sister Mrs James F Fanning of Comanche, plus grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
The family of Mrs. E W Strickland expresses gratitude for flowers food and service at the death and funeral noting thanks to pallbearers and ministers Rev Haynes Hankinson Isham and Mr and Mrs Porter Franks and praying for blessings.
