Huge crowds witnessed a parade led by the High School Band, followed by a baseball double header. At 4 p.m. Mayor Eanes threw the first pitch as the Boll Weevil League began. The Cats and Montezumas opened with Montezumas winning 7 5. At 6 p.m. the Owls faced the Pelicans with the Pelicans taking 3 0.
The High School Glee Club will perform Friday night attracting town support. Officers listed include Thelma Gray director Verna Burks manager Pauline Gage musical manager Francis Burks secretary and Mary Hays treasurer. Admission set at 15 and 25 cents.
Mrs. W. L. Sartwelle born Helen Amanda Densmore in Mobile Alabama in 1828 died May 2 at her Palacios home after long residence in Comanche and Palacios Texas. Funeral at St. Matthews Church at 3 p m with Rev. John Power. She and her husband moved to Comanche county around 1876 and had two children.
This week we carry the name of J H McMillan for the office of County Judge. He needs no introduction to Comanche county people. He is a notable lawyer and public servant with sound business judgment and a reputation for fairness as a judge.

The Ladies Missionary Society of the Freewill Baptist church at Vandyke will hold a parcel post sale at the church on May 20 at 6 30 p m.

Mrs Ada Allen of Comanche attempted suicide Saturday by drinking Pomangernate Potash. A physician arrived promptly and found her alive, saving her life moments after she ingested the poison.
Last week in Proctor a ball game was reported with a 9 to 0 score for Proctor. Comyn contests the result claiming a 10 to 5 victory, casting doubt on the authenticity of the report.
Despite heavy rain the Marketing Association sent out one car of hogs with four others dispatched simultaneously. The hogs sold for 8.90 at Fort Worth as hog prices stayed strong for the season, boosting profitability for hog raisers this year.
