Special to the Chief reports Comanche County residents carry about 7.38 million dollars in debt including auto and consumer loans, averaging 1550 dollars per family. Debt repayment runs around 130 dollars monthly per family, with untapped borrowing power suggested by Financial Digest.
Fifty five prospective jurors are summoned to report at 9 30 Tuesday morning for County Court duty. County Judge Albert Brannan lists juror names from Comanche Dublin De Leon and Gustine, with addresses and routes noted.
District Clerk Ruth Page says 12 of 14 defendants named in recent grand jury indictments will appear before District Judge Byron McClellan Friday morning for arraignments. Two suspects are at large. Judge McClellan will also hear non contested civil cases after setting trial dates. Two delinquent tax suits involve Comanche Independent School District and intervenors.
County Clerk Betty Conway reports about 45 absentee ballots cast for the Comanche Independent School District Trustee and Comanche County Hospital District Board races as of late Tuesday. City Secretary John Beaty notes only two absentee ballots in the upcoming City of Comanche election. March 30 is the deadline to cast absentee votes for the April 3 elections.
The SS representative will visit Comanche County Courtroom in the Comanche Courthouse every Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. and De Leon Housing Project each Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. For alternative meetings, residents may report to the Brownwood office at 300 North Main Building from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding national holidays.
The Comanche County Farm Bureau plans a Measure The Candidates event at the district courtroom in Comanche on April 5 at 7 30 pm. The program aims to help voters learn about all candidates before voting and is sponsored by the Farm Bureau.

Comanche Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual membership banquet on Thursday March 25 at 7 00 pm at PAR Country Club with former Miss America Shirley Cothran as guest speaker. New officers for 1976 77 include Dr Raymond Stepp president and John Gleaton to introduce the speaker.
The Comanche County unit of the American Cancer Society designates the last week of March and first week of April for its annual crusade. Volunteers will contact local businesses and homes starting March 29 to distribute literature and seek contributions toward a $5,000 goal led by president John Gleaton.
