Revival held at a Methodist church featured Joe Moore of Ken e evangelist and Rev. of Waxahachie leading services. About 100 people attended the Sunday morning service with several visitors thanked by the pastor for their presence and support.
The West Ward PTA met in the Ward School lunchroom at 2 45 Tuesday March 9. The program included invocation by Mrs J F Hallmark musical selections by Nancy Pinson hymns by the Methodist Junior Choir led by Mrs Pat Nations accompanied by Mrs Hallmark musical guessing games led by Mrs W L Morris with Marjorie House at the piano vocal solos Texas Our Texas and Beautiful Texas by Mattie McEwin accompanied by Janet McCamey and a talk on What Our School Taxes Provide by Eddie Jones.
Armstrong of the State Soil Conservation Board spoke at the district court Tuesday March 16 at 3 00 PM. He promoted Soil and Water Conservation Education and urged schools and churches to participate. An attendance prize was won by Mrs Jess Harris' second grade. The next meeting is April 13.
Brady wins 11 of 14 events at home against Comanche, finishing 86 to 55. Earl Dickenson leads with 12 points, winning the 100 yard dash and broad jump while contributing to the 440 relay. Harold Price of Comanche takes discus with 140 feet 2 inches, outdistancing Brady's Beoker. Billy Joe Nicholas shines in low hurdles with 18.1 seconds, and Wilburn Shurtleff clears 11 feet in pole vault.
The Mercer Gap Helpers Club met on Tuesday February 23 with fifteen members present including one new member Mrs J F Keesee and a visitor Mrs C W Clay. A basket luncheon was served and two quilts were made for Mrs Ethey Rogers and Mrs Mohlia Brewster. The meeting included a song led by Mrs Gage Nelson and Mrs Albin, minutes were read, and an entertainment was planned for the near future.
The Blanket Study Club met Tuesday at Mrs. Dolores Sanford home with co-hostesses Mrs. Ann Ryan and Mrs. Thelma Switzer. Mrs. Sally Lyon high school English teacher joined as a new member. The program featured Texas topics by Mrs. Leona Shaw and Mrs Blancilé Doll with a poetry reading by Grace Nell Crowell. St Patrick themed refreshments honored the attendees.
