Woodrow R. Allen and Burma Wood of the Farm Security Administration led a session for 22 attendees explaining a special real estate loan for farmers in danger of losing their farms. Loans up to 1000 dollars, repayable over 5 to 40 years, may fund repairs and improvements. funds cannot repay prior federal debts. J. B. Jim Lacy announces candidacy for County Judge this week carried in the regular column. He is a star route mail carrier between Comanche and Sipe Springs via Sidney and a native of the county. His parents were early settlers. he was born on Jimmie’s Creek near Sidney and attended a business college. Lacy served as County Clerk of Comanche County from 1908 to 1912 under J. M. One Act Play Finals Set For March 29 In Comanche

CCC Seeks 4000 Boys For April Enlistment In Texas
Adam R. Johnson, director of the Texas Public Welfare Department, says about 4,000 youths are needed in April to fill CCC ramps. Applicants must be 17 to 23 years 6 months, of good character, and not with more than 18 months in CCC since July 1937. Over 16,000 Texans are in CCC camps, with $200,000 monthly sent to families.

Beers and Whiskey Seized in De Leon Area Raid
State liquor officers with Sheriff Wid Spivey and Deputy Manley seized twenty cases of beer and four pints of whiskey in a Saturday raid on the Jeff Owens Service Station six miles from De Leon on the Dublin Highway. Charges of possession of intoxicants were preferred.

Auto license payments in Manche County for passenger cars in the first half of March totaled 332. Assessor-Collector P A Pettit notes 3,110 passenger cars were registered last year and expects similar totals for 1940. Licenses due by April 1 to avoid penalties. sub-office opened in De Leon City Hall. Pettit will tour Gustine March 16, Lamkin March 19, Proctor March 20, and Sipe Springs March 21 to issue licenses.

De Leon Men Use Brooms to Trap Robbers
Two De Leon businessmen Pete Cooksey and Earl Parks captured a would-be burglar near town using brooms as weapons after he attempted to steal 35 pairs of silk hose from a shop next to J. T. Edmondson’s tailor business. The suspect was handed to jail. another robber seized half an hour later. Burglary charges by Police Chief Joe Underhill led to transfer to Comanche County Jail for the April term.
