The City Council in its session set Wednesday March 15 as a city wide clean-up day. They asked all city teams to join and urged residents to improve cleaner squares and alleys, noting the need for better care in the residence section.
Mrs Lucie Kirk resigned from Neely Harris Cunningham Co March 1 after eighteen years two months in their employ. A Comanche resident for 33 years she had two children and was well regarded. Her departure followed personal health decline and she left of her accord. Local customers and Comanche women regret her dry goods departure.
A Baptist church column reports Mae Uwhimeyer and A G at Big Pine wed. Haworth's county attorney status. two hundred nine in Sunday school with offerings for Christian education. a Laymen's Missionary movement convention in Fort Worth March 8 12. and a sermon series on the Compassionate Stranger led by Pastor Geo A Curlee with an invitation to worship.
Mr Poteet of A and M and Col Quixall of Dallas discussed forming a co operative association to establish a packing plant to cure peanut meal. A meeting was held at J R Eanes office to discuss the idea and potential sale of cured peanut meat locally.

Mr L G White and church youth organize a three day carnival in Comanche March 23 24 25 to boost local trade. Booths at the skating rink offer displays and prizes with a Dollar Sale on Saturday and entertainment each evening led by the Boll Weevil league and a school band. Local merchants list announces participation and prizes for canned fruit butter eggs fine poultry and crafts.
W H Hutchins of near Sipe Springs attempted to take his own life Thursday at his home after long ill health from an incurable spinal problem. He ingested strychnine but was saved by Dr Westbrook who responded promptly. Hutchins is regarded as a fine man in Comanche county and hoped to escape his suffering.
Mrs J H Purvis of near Proctor and a longtime Comanche settler died last Wednesday from heart disease after a period of illness. She and her husband moved from Illinois in early days and helped build up the area. She was buried at Graham's Chapel on Thursday afternoon.
Mr. McClintock died in the Briar Grove community Sunday and was buried at Proctor Monday. He had long resided in Comanche county. The bereaved family is extended sympathy.

The Chief plans a Booster Edition dedicated to supporting Comanche merchants and placing Comanche on the map. It invites contributions of notable industries and prize articles and aims to boost commerce in Comanche County.

Pearce Harris relocates Farmers Restaurant to the old Silver Moon Cafe Stand and plans a modern setup.
The Reese Drug Co front and the adjacent former C. F. Williams block are being painted and tidied as work continues before Dudley moves into the space.
The Chief Exponent front and the Campbell building ad joining were repainted during the week. The fresh coats give a sense of prosperity, making residents feel worth a million, though they recognize hard times have not yet passed.
I. I. Collins is repainting the storefront and remodeling the interior to present a neat sanitary appearance. The work aims to refresh the market and attract customers with improved cleanliness and layout.
J C McDaniel of near Van Dyke died at his daughter's Dallas home at eight o'clock Wednesday morning after years of an incurable illness. He was 84. His son Sam left Wednesday to attend the funeral and also the bedside of his wife, who is critically ill.
The Lyceum course ends with the Ionians postponed from Thursday evening to Saturday night. The Ionians are regarded as a highly recommended quartet on the platform.
Mrs Will Dingus led the Ladies Missionary Society of the M E church hosting a casual Tuesday gathering. Mrs J P Graham and Miss Dona Saye offered Bible stories while Mrs Barna Riley played piano and a Victrola provided music along with salad courses enjoyed by a long list of ladies and Misses Eugenia Gray and Dona Saye.

Announcement notes a Leon fishing trip for scouts Friday night and mentions a Tonians gathering Saturday night.
In Muskee near Inola Oklahoma a wagon carrying school children was hit by an Iron Mountain train. Driver Bud Stiles 60 and two students Dana Cummins 16 Hilda Reynolds 15 die. Several children injured including Thelma Reynolds 8 Ruby Reynolds 11 Noy Lauters 7 Laura Cummins 18. About twelve children rode in the wagon.
The Comanche County Medical Association met in Comanche on Thursday March 3 with physicians from DeLeon Sidney Gap Downing Sipe Springs and Co manche present. Officers elected include Dr Gray as President Dr Westbrook as Vice President and Dr Ory as Treasurer and delegate to the State Medical Association meeting in Galveston in May. The next meeting is set for the first Thursday in June at De Leon.
Blocker Johnson married February 29 at the Baptist church officiated by Rev. Geo A Curlee. The church was adorned with flowers vines and ferns for the ceremony. Miss Margarite Hill Miss Evelyn Thadberg attended. ushers Nugent Durham Herman Rieger. Blocker is in the U S Consular service at Eagle Pass Texas. The bride is sister of Mrs H H Stephenson of Comanche.
