Claude Prater Elected Director At First National Bank
Wayne May announced that Claude L. Prater of Comanche was elected a Director of First Comanche Bank at the June 11 board meeting. Prater, born August 1, 1935 in Sonora, built a career in paving and earth moving before becoming a conservation contractor and land developer. He and his wife La Rue, with children Connie Billy Paul and Pam, have lived in Comanche since 1961 and run a cattle business with his son. The bank lauds his professional ability.

Comanche School Board Names Three New Teachers
In a Monday night session the Comanche School Board hired Judy Lacy for Special Services, Lavay Chambers for Special Education, and Tom Beidleman as high school math, plus approved six bids for two used school buses with Northline Bus Sales of Houston getting the high bid at 3750.00. The board also approved monthly bills and reviewed a financial report from Supt. Jefferies.

Baptist Pastor Arrives at First Baptist Comanche
The First Baptist Church in Comanche welcomes Brother Kenneth Vaughan and family as their new pastor. Vaughan, born in Red River County, East Texas, holds a BA from Howard Payne College 1952 and an MA from the same college 1955 plus a master’s from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary 1956. He has pastored in Brookesmith Eden Eldorado and now begins at Comanche on June 16. Virginia Vaughan, his wife, is a Howard Payne graduate and former teacher. Children are Marcella 16, Ken 14, and Carolyn 11. The family enjoys hunting and fishing. services are 11:00 am and 7:30 pm Sundays with Bible Study at 9:45 am.

Wool payments program still active for 1974 marketings
Kenneth G. White of the Comanche County ASCS Office says wool producers may file for payment on 1974 marketings by submitting sales documents for wool and unshorn lambs. The 1973 act extended the program through December 1977 with an incentive price of 72 cents per pound.
