Kilgore Joins Navy Inland Seas Great Lakes Cruise
Lonnie E. Kilgore a boilerman first class in the US Navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elbert H. Kilgore of Star Route, Sidney, and husband of Debbie Hicks of Comanche, serves aboard USS Klein Smith and participates in Operation Inland Seas. A 28-ship fleet will visit 27 Great Lake cities from June 25 to late July, first major fleet on the lakes since 1812, enabled by the opening of the St Lawrence Seaway. It will tour Chicago and Michigan City among Illinois and Indiana entries.
