Mr and Mrs E Layman and family express gratitude for a useful and wonderful miscellaneous shower. They thank friends and neighbors and say they will always be remembered.
The Comanche County Pension Club No. 1 will meet next Saturday, June 6, at 2 p.m. in the courthouse. Corresponding Secretary Effie Shannon says they expect good speakers and invite all pensioners and friends to attend.
May 90 Homer Garrison Jr announced the Texas Department of Public Safety seeks male applicants for Texas Highway Patrolman. Requirements include age 21 to 35, height at least 5 8, weight proportional, high school education or equivalent, US citizenship and Texas residency, plus character and mental exams. Write to W J Elliott in Austin for blanks. Applications accepted until midnight June 30 1953.
The Hankins' Normal College Ex-Students Association will meet in Gorman on Sunday June 7 at the Gorman School auditorium. All ex-students and friends are urged to attend. Lawrence Smallwood of Breckenridge and his wife visited Comanche last week.
Mrs Bill Dudney spent two days in Lubbock visiting relatives and returned home with her nephew Billy Mac Mahon of Comyn and Texas Tech. Dr and Mrs E E Blackwood Jack and Jill returned from a week in Newton Iowa where they attended Miss Marilyn Bergmans wedding on May 25. Here from Iowa Mr and Mrs Dan Eicher and daughter and Mr and Mrs Carl Eicher and son of Waterloo Iowa are here visiting Mrs W B Donaldson, the mother of Mrs Eicher.
Dalton Hicks, a CHS senior and three sport letterman for the Comanche Indians, travels to Houston this week to work for a construction company during the summer. He is an all district performer in football and basketball.
Mrs. Weldon Barrett and her sons of Waco visited Sunday with her parents Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Tucker and other relatives.
Visit by Mrs. Pete Hazelwood and Suzanne Kay and Milburn Hazelwood from Austin last week to Floyd Prather and family.
Jimmie Dee Sturdivant of Stephenville daughter of Mr and Mrs J E Sturdivant received a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics Education at the Texas State College for Women Denton commencement June 1 She was among 229 graduates and has accepted a position with the Texas Extension Service.
