Comanche County Pioneer Recalls Hard Times and Bountiful Harvests
T M Edwards recalls 1886 drought and 1887 recovery, describing desolate pastures, dry oaks, and scarce money in Comanche County. He details turning sod for wheat, moving a neighbor, hog hunting with hounds, and a bumper 1886 cotton crop. He contrasts then hardship with today’s better crops and fewer sufferings.
