A county survey shows residents earned more after taxes than in the prior year and spent higher amounts on goods and services. Retail sales rose about 113 percent to a record level, with residents buying food clothing and leisure items, while cash held at hand decreased.
North Austin Church of Christ Comanche will start a gospel meeting at Gustin from August 1 to August end with A Hugh Clark of Killeen to lead. Services at 7 30 p m nightly and radio broadcast at 6 45 a m beginning Tuesday August 2. Bobby Key of Miami Oklahoma will also conduct a Gospel Meeting at Gustine Church July 31 to August 8 with two daily services at 10 a m and 8 p m.
Revival began Friday at the church and continues with prayer service and preaching at 8. Rev Brad the evangelist from Carroll Brown is involved. The public is invited.
Zion Hill Baptist Church begins its summer revival with nightly services at 8 o clock from Friday July 29 through Sunday August 7. Dr Clifford Nelson Baptist Area Missionary will preach at the Zion Hill services.
Emmanuel Baptist Church hosts a week long revival starting Monday August 1 and ending Sunday August 7. Services begin each night at 7 30 p m with Reverend Dwayne Martin of Parmela Baptist Church as evangelist and Rev Benney as music director.
Ted Jones, longtime Hamilton basketball mentor of 19 years, is appointed head basketball coach at Waco High School and will assist with the football program.
Comanche will have three coaches present in Houston Monday for the Texas School boy Coaching School. Don Walker and junior high coaches David Andrews and Bob Clapton plan to attend with main speakers Frank Brovies of Arkansas and Darrel Roval of the University of Texas. Orland Aldridge will miss the event to finish a master’s degree at Albarn University.
The Music School at First Baptist Church reports strong attendance and active participation under Tim Fleming. A free community concert featuring all ages, trios, duets, and a quartet will be held at 7 pm on Friday July 29th.
The 1967 ASC committee election process is outlined with voting eligibility for farmers, petition deadlines, and nominations. Communities E F H J and L are established, with newly elected community committeemen and current county committeemen listed, including officers Chairman William T. Carruth and Vice Chairman James Couch.
Alven Bishop is the new manager of L and H Discount Store in Brownwood. He serves as vice president of the owning corporation and brings wholesale drug experience plus a fishing tackle wholesale business. The Bishops reside in Brownwood with children Jack in San Antonio and Billie Jo King in Brownwood. Fred Hunter and J. L. Jones Jr. also work at the store.
Thelma Chappell Dirk Jo link Jimmy Rambo and Loyd Sanders of De Leon are named delegates to the 4th Annual Texas Youth Conference in Austin August 18 21 at the University of Texas campus. The event draws 1200 youth leaders to study juvenile delinquency prevention.

Comanche All-Star baseball teams excel in area tournaments. The No. 2 unit placed second to Gorman in De Leon finals after a 19-2 win over Dublin and a 9-3 loss to Gorman. No. 1 won 19-2 then fell to Gorman 9-3. The No. 2 team won 2-0 in Stephenville against Stephen ville, with Luker of Gustine tossing a shutout and Dan Boone homering for Oak Lawn. The squad awaits Fort Worth White Settlement Friday then finals Saturday, while the other Comanche squad faces Mason in San Saba Thursday with finals Saturday.

On Saturday July 93 in the courthouse corridors the 4 H Tomato and Flower Show awarded prizes. Linda La Lane of Gustine 4 H Club claimed Grand Champion in the Flower Show with Shields. Richard Jones of Sidney 4 H Club won Reserve Grand Champion in the Tomato Show.
W E Clemons of Clemons Motor Co Comanche named Area Director of Texas Automobile Dealers Assoc by Bob Herrin Stephenville. He will promote high standards of integrity, safety, and driver education in Texas schools, with term ending at the May 1967 Houston convention. The association heads in Austin represent 1400 franchised new auto and truck dealers.
De Leon prepares for the Peach and Melon Festival 52nd anniversary with judging of the Queen and a week of events starting Tuesday night August 2 at the Festival Grounds. Activities include parades, receptions, performances by Texas Playboys, melon and peach judging, auctions, and Queen’s Ball.
