Tax Tips Help Farmers Cut Summer Income Tax
An economist for the Texas A&M Extension Service says farmers can save on income tax by paying children for farm work and by combining vacation with business trips. Child wages are deductible and children can be claimed as dependents if the farmer provides more than half their support. A child earning under 2050 dollars pays no income tax. Business trip expenses are deductible if business is the primary purpose, but only the farmer’s costs are deductible, not the whole family.
