New Legislation Sought To Help Texas Farm Industry
Texas Agriculture Commissioner John C. White plans a series of state conferences with farmers and industry leaders to draft legislation for the next session. He wants self supporting programs funded by service fees to avoid taxpayer costs and says departmental activity has risen 400 percent in five years. White aims to improve farmers and ranchers economic outlook amid drought and expand industry self help. Wool producers will receive payments equal to 44.9 percent of net wool proceeds from the 1955 year, distributed through county ASC offices.
