Beeman Named Captain in Engineer Corps from Comanche

Mrs. J. B. Chilton learns that Thomas R. Beeman of Washington is appointed Captain in the Engineer Corps under Col. J. B. Cavanaugh and Lt. Col. J. R. Holman. Beeman, a railroad and highway construction engineer, has worked on the Milwaukee line in Eastern Washington and on $3,000,000 Denton road bonds. He is an A&M College graduate and a West Coast civil engineer, praised as a promising addition to U S forces going to Europe.

Red Cross needs members supplies and paper help

A local Red Cross drive urges immediate action for membership, old cotton and linen to make surgical dressings, and donations of newspapers and magazines. Headquartered at Neely Harris, drop off days are Monday Wednesday and Saturday, four to six, with phone pickup if needed. Volunteers of all ages are asked to assist for the soldiers and community.

Mrs. Lattimore Dead and Buried in Dublin Texas

Mrs. Lattimore, nearly 80, mother of Mrs. J. M. Higginbotham of Dublin, was buried in Dublin after a funeral that drew residents from Fort Worth Waco Dallas and nearby towns. She and her husband taught in Alexander for about 40 years and left surviving daughters Mrs. Spence and Mrs. J. M. Higginbotham and sons O. S. Lattimore of Fort Worth and J. S. Lattimore, recently killed in Waco.

Red Cross Opens Headquarters in Comanche

Mrs Willis Crockett Dead At North Town Home

Mrs Willis Crockett died at her home north of town last Friday and was buried Saturday at 1 o clock in Oakwood Cemetery. She was Eula Clift and lived with R M Clift’s family before marrying Willis Crockett about two years ago. They had one child who lived only a few days and she was a longtime church member with many friends.
