The Comanche County slate features major Texas names seeking statewide posts. Candidates include Gov. Price Daniel appointee William Blake, associates Joe Greenhill and Sarah Hughes for Supreme Court, and local figures Bill Allcorn and Lily Dimmitt for General Land Office. Unopposed races include Culver, Culberson, Calvert, Johnson, Caraway, and party officers as precinct conventions near July 26.
The note urges a decisive start to campaign effort as two Democratic factions contend for two year control. Merchants are asked to display flags if available. Weekend visitors to Lon Sledge's home include Bob Thomas and family from Fort Worth and Norman Rushing and family from Irving with Mr Sledge back from Midland for vacation.
An agreed judgment for 15000 was awarded to Ernest Hancock in the District Court over Emma Hancock's death from a Santa Fe Railroad crossing crash at Blufdale on August 11 1957.
