Comanche Chief lists subscription prices: two dollars per year in Comanche County and surrounding rural routes, two dollars and seventy five cents elsewhere in Texas, two dollars fifty cents per year for adjoining counties, and one dollar minimum. Out-of-state subscripts are two dollars seventy five cents annually.
The notice outlines Independence Day events across the area. Comanche will skip a July 4 celebration this year but hosts a six day festive period starting July 8 with the Fourteenth Annual Amateur Rodeo, parade by the Lions Club, and strong support from local clubs. It also covers local observances in De Leon Dublin and Comanche County, and a broad forecast of highway death estimates for the July 4 weekend along with Texas crash statistics and safety notes.
An old timer warns that dwelling on yesterdays wastes today while a subscriber quips that smokers need not worry now that cigarette dangers are acknowledged. The piece reflects probity versus privilege and how self deception undermines principle.
