Veterans may qualify for release from GI loan liability
A 1957 VA guidance column explains steps for veterans who sold homes financed with GI loans to avoid future liability. The buyer must assume the loan or repay in cash, obtain a release of liability from VA and the lender, and show good credit. The VA regional office processes the release, with costs for credit reports and recording assigned to the buyer or veteran.
