J J L White 47 assistant cashier of First State Bank of Gustine shot himself four miles west of Dublin. Inquest by Justice W B Goodner ruled death due to gunshot wounds with suicidal intent. White left notes for his wife and for George Hurd who found him near his car.

Burglars Loot Morristown Ladies Store at Dawn
Two men burglarized the Roberson Sisters ladies ready to wear shop around 7 am Monday, prying the front door. About 750 dollars in coats dresses and two fur coats worth 100 each were taken. A tan two door Ford V8 was seen parked near the rear door, with witnesses including Lindsey Gore and Archie Beard reporting the car and suspects. The merchandise left through the rear exit.

Fence Work On Highway 10 Progress In Two Counties
Two crews from Dublin and Stephenville are fencing a 100 foot right of way on Highway 10 between the towns. The Stephenville end is nearly finished. Dublin end will take several more weeks. Labor is furnished by the two relief offices under Commissioners Smith and Belcher. Only four or five condemnation suits remain to secure the route, with trials due in January.

Fire Destroys Cox Home Near Sidney Section
Fire of unknown origin destroyed the Cox residence and its contents a few miles north of Sidney on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. B Z Cox owned the home which was a complete loss with about 800 dollars on the house and 400 dollars on household goods insured. Mr. Cox was in Fort Worth and Mrs. Cox visiting relatives when a neighbor found the blaze.

County Agent J. A. Barton says the peanut sign up will begin about Monday January 28, 1935, with a one year contract. Farmers may reduce 10 percent from 1933 or 1934 acreage or use the average and still receive two dollars per acre or eight dollars per ton for 1934 yield. minimum payment remains two dollars per acre. Sign up requires plotting 1931 acres with corner measurements and two neighbors’ certification, plus a thresherman’s 1934 yield statement. if using 1933 or 1934 as base, two neighbors must verify 1923 and 1934 acre counts. Sign up will take ten to twelve days.

With twelve days left to pay poll taxes for 1985 voters, only 692 of more than 7000 assessments had been paid by noon Tuesday. Last year 1290 had paid by January 15, total 8768 by February 1.
