The Southwest Telephone Company prepares an exchange building to be set behind the lot with a drilled small-type foundation and concrete pan adin masonry. Comanche High School opened 8-AA play with both teams defeating Granbury. The Indian Maidens won 56 to 49 in a thriller as Barbara Jennings led Granbury scorers with 23 points, while Luann Henson added 17 and Sue Gore 16 for Comanche. Joni Gleator scored 24 for Comanche in the nightcap as Granbury trimmed the final margin late. Morrison led Granbury with 33 points.

Sybil Stewart, long time employee and former City Secretary of Comanche, was promoted to Assistant Cashier at a bank board meeting. The State National Bank reported a prosperous year 1959 with 20 percent dividends and a bonus month’s salary for each employee. Bank deposits rose to 2,663,803 and loans to 723,124.10. A new 25 by 30 foot extension with a vault and 250 safety deposit boxes is under construction.

Burglars Strike Gustine Again Saturday Night
Gustine endured another burglary when Paul Patton's Sinclair Service Station was entered Saturday night January 9. A cash register drawer containing about $45 in change and $300 in checks was taken, though the checks later turned up. the money and drawer remained missing at last report. Meanwhile Mr. and Mrs. Ashton Wilson of Wray Colorado visited Comanche to see Sam P. Hatchett during the holidays.

Fred Curry Benefit Doubleheader Set For Saturday Night
A Fred Curry benefit basketball doubleheader will be played here Saturday night January 16 with the Comanche girls facing Gustine and the Comanche boys hosting Grapevine. Proceeds go to Fred Curry who is hospitalized after a Thanksgiving car wreck. Billy Curry also injured years ago and slowly recovering. Advance tickets are $1 for adults and 50 cents for students, with proceeds aiding the Curry family.
