Dewbre Named President at First Comanche Bank
Felton Dewbre was named president and director at the First Comanche Bank during the annual stockholders and directors meeting. He previously served 20 years at First National Bank in Brownwood and 13 years with Southern Savings and Loan in Brownwood. Former president Charles W. Taylor returns to De Leon to lead Farmers and Merchants Bank. Directors and officers were re elected, including Ben D. Sudderth, Thomas W. Taylor, Laverne Durham, Sibyl Stewart, and others.

Proctor Wet-Dry Election Set for February 4
Justice of Peace Precinct No 4 in Proctor will vote Friday February 4 on a local option liquor election after petitions signed by 66 voters met the required 46. Absentee voting begins January 25. Precinct 4 last went wet on April 5 1969 and remains Comanche County’s only wet area with off premises sales.

Chief Charles Anders presented the 1976 annual report to the City Council. Officers issued 485 traffic tickets and 440 warnings, made 162 arrests aside from traffic, jailed 151, logged 157 accidents, and received 588 complaints. Patrol cars traveled 66,685 miles.
