Adcock Enters Angus at Houston Fat Stock Show

James Adcock of Gustine Texas has entered an Aberdeen Angus steer in the junior livestock division of the 1955 Houston Fat Stock Show February 2 through 13. About 700 animals are expected in a standout show. Livestock manager John Kuykendall notes entries are limited to this number to allow space for a new junior breeding cattle division. Last year’s champion was Dayton Crenwelge Fredericksburg whose $12,500 prize animal was bought by Edgar Brown Orange. Houston’s top auction prices have ranged to 18,800 in past years. Through 1953 auctions, young exhibitors earned 261,157 in livestock and poultry entries. Premiums for the junior steer division total 3,146 this year.
