County agents publish questions and answers on the 1937 farm program. It explains diversions from depleting crops, required soil conserving crops, and soil building practices including legumes and cover crops.
McNatt purchased the Walker residence in Comanche this week. The well kept property sits on two acres and features a landscaped yard. He plans to move to his North Comanche home, with the seller noting a recent sale offer.

Goldthwaite February 22 John Smallwood 25 foreman of the Smith ranch in Lampasas County was killed instantly in a head on crash with a heavy truck driven by Orval Wulfman Saturday night about 10 o clock on the Lometa highway 14 miles south of Goldthwaite.
In the Nation's Capitol a plaintive dog stands before a business, drawing donations for flood victims. Comanche County has contributed $598.02 to the relief total as reported in the latest update.
Comanche County taxes for 1936 are about 75 percent paid with roughly 20 percent delinquent. A five percent gap reflects split payment option holders can delay the second half until June 30. Totals as of February 1 show State 32819.35, County 42376.47, Roads 14417.12, Schools 47286.95.
L L Lanford of Blanket is feeding out 111 lambs. They will be market ready in March. Daily ration follows county agent guidance using seed meal ground corn and hog hay bundles with grain content specified.

U S Senator Morris Sheppard of Texas stated in a telegram to a Comanche business firm that he favors the President Roosevelt Supreme Court plan. He wrote I believe that the Presidents U S Supreme Court plan is needed and will be salutary to our country.
Blanket Masonic Lodge No. 645 marked its fiftieth anniversary with 25 to 30 Masons attending at the Blanket lodge hall. The lodge, chartered January 13, 1887, honored Rev. Z. T. Blanton as guest of honor who recalled all charter members. Ernest Allen serves as Worshipful Master and James WN Bailey as secretary.
May FFA chapter won first place in the Brownwood district F F A contest for the third straight year. The competition included five other chapters and was held Tuesday night at Brownwood Junior High School.

Evant High School won the District No. 8 basketball championship with a 25-19 victory over Brownwood High Lions in Brownwood Saturday night. Comanche was eliminated by Evant 25 to 16 Friday afternoon, as the Indians led early and were tied 9-9 at halftime.
Macon Richmond a Blanket druggist and rancher has a carload of three year old steers on feed for about 30 days ready for Kansas City market. The herd has been on feed 100 days and averages about 1,000 pounds per head with an estimated daily gain of 4 pounds per steer.
George H. Boynton former editor of The Comanche Chief died at his Port Arthur home from injuries after being struck by an automobile on January 23. He edited The Chief for about two years after The Hamilton Herald sale in 1920 and earlier edited The Hamilton Herald for nearly two decades. Funeral services were in Port Arthur conducted by Rev. W. O. Dallas, then burial followed in Hamilton at Graves-Gentry Cemetery.
Grady Howell former County Commissioner and current project superintendent of Co manche Street Work is appointed Project Superintendent on the De Leon Sipe Springs road project. He will direct about 30 men on the job.

Fire swept a stone church in Lampasas on Sunday afternoon causing extensive damage. The organ and furniture were destroyed and the loss was estimated between 35 000 and 40 000 dollars. The church had celebrated its fiftieth anniversary last year.
A five thousand dollar bond election was ordered by the De Leon City Council to fund a new Fire Station with a later City Hall addition. If approved, construction would begin on the Fire Station first with the City Hall added in the same building. date to be announced. The report also notes a crackdown on drunkenness, recent arrests, and a jail break incident.
Five prizes totaling 75.00 will be awarded in the Calf Show here March 10, decided by the Agricultural Club of the Chamber of Commerce. The Comanche City Council announced that the broken swimming pool dam will be rebuilt if enough residents buy fishing permits. Annual permits cost 3.00 for families and 2.00 for individuals, with about 300 needed to fund the project. Citizens urged to buy licenses even if they do not fish to provide a pool for the children.

Fire swept the Wall Awy farm residence in Fairview Saturday around 1 30 PM. The origin was believed in the kitchen. Mr. Irby was away. the blaze was out of control before neighbors could help. Building and almost all furniture were lost.
