The World Day of Prayer will be observed at First Presbyterian Church on Friday February 17. A brief devotional service begins at 10 a.m. The sanctuary will be open all day for quiet meditation and all Christian people are warmly welcomed to join this world-wide observance.
The C. L. Georges family who recently bought a new home in the Stag Creek Community will be honored Saturday night February 18 at the Community Center.
Mrs. Betty Harris of Hamilton has been named Official Court Reporter for the 52nd Judicial District of Texas by Judge H. W. Allen. She will report for Judge Allen at the opening of the first session in Comanche on Monday March 6, having previously served as his secretary and as secretary to Attorney Truman E. Rob. The 52nd District includes Coryell Hamilton Bosque and Comanche counties.
Mrs. Harris, wife of Hamilton County Commissioner Hubert Harris, recently passed the state court reporting test and plans to work from her Pottsville farm. A graduate of Hamilton High School, she learned shorthand at the Stenograph Institute and is married with two sons, O. B. and Ronnie. She serves as Sunday School Superintendent at Pottsville Baptist Church.
The Dudley Brothers of Comanche will exhibit one Hereford and two nurse cows at the 1961 Houston Fat Stock Show from February 22 to March 5. The 29th annual event promises national records with Houston hosting the largest steer and junior livestock shows, over 160000 in premiums, more than 300 trophies valued over 7000, and the famed World's Largest Calf Scramble. Fort Worth visitors Mr and Mrs James Wilkerson and daughter Marsha visited J Roy Smith’s family Saturday.

The City of Comanche installed a new chlorinator this week at the Lake Eanes Filter Plant to treat city water. The old unit, bought in 1943, ceased operation last week, leaving the system treated manually for several days.
Dr. Roy Livingston McPherson 61 longtime SMU faculty member died at his Dallas home February 14 after a long illness. Funeral services were held February 16 at Restland Chapel with burial in Restland Memorial Park. He earned degrees from the University of Texas and taught at UT Houston and Texas Woman’s University before joining SMU in 1950 and chaired the Finance Department for eight years. He was active in several professional organizations and honored in Who’s Who. Survived by his wife Gertrude and three daughters.
